The Virgin Gorda Half Marathon course is undoubtably one of the toughest road race in the BVI and possibly in the Virgin Islands. 13.1 miles of undulating roadway follow the beautiful contours of the island of Virgin Gorda. Our 6 Mile Challenge course is held in The Valley, Virgin Gorda's "flatter" side and covers the last 6 miles of the Half Marathon course. You'll see the top of the world famous Baths and the impressive Coppermine National Parks. Both courses finish at the Mermaid's Dockside Grill where a beach party is waiting for you!
The 2017 Virgin Gorda Half Marathon & 6 Mile Challenge will be the 6th Annual event and the FINAL event! We're pulling out all the stops and hope to share the experience with you!
The VG Half is at the end of May so our local runners have 5 weeks to recover from the awesome Tortola Torture Ultramarathon in April (check them out (www.tortolatorture.com...you are welcome!) The course is routed and takes the runner on a tour of Virgin Gorda’s best sights - the beaches of the western side, Gorda Peak’s curvy base, historic Spanish Town and Coppermine Ruins, the Baths, and ending at Mermaid’s Dockside Restaurant Dock.
Along the route, enjoy amazing scenery and hydration stops all along the way. At mile 10 there’s even an iced towel station that cools you off after you finish the Coppermine leg! Each of our stops are sponsored by local groups who receive a donation from your entry fee to their cause. Not only are you doing your own body good, but supporting community groups as well!
100% of the profits from our sponsors and participants go directly into the community! Thank you for your participation!
